PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil's Devotional: "CAROL OF THE BELLS!" CAROL OF THE BELLS! Devotional Today’s video, “Carol of the Bells,” is a fun video to say, “Merry Christmas!” in a special way to all of you. It features the  Bandstand Bears  and cold winter snow video shots along with this amazing musical rendition by Jerry Nelson. “Carol of the Bells” is a popular Christmas carol, with music by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych in 1914 and lyrics by Peter J. Wilhousky. The song is based on the Ukrainian folk chant “Shchedryk”. . . . . . . . . . . . . . CAROL OF THE BELLS Hark how the bells, sweet silver bells, all seem to say, throw cares away Christmas is here, bringing good cheer, to young and old, meek and the bold. Ding dong ding dong that is their song with joyful ring all caroling. One seems to hear words of good cheer from everywhere filling the air. Oh how they pound, raising the sound, o’er hill and dale, telling their tale. Gaily they ring while people sing
PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil's Devotional: “REAL LIFE!” James 4:14 REAL LIFE! James 4:14 – Devotional James 4:14 “We are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” I survived another Christmas with only a few pangs. At this season I always recall being with my wife Joyce and our family on Christmas as being a very special day. Joyce and I spent every Christmas together except in 1966 when I was on a remote assignment in St. Anthony, Newfoundland, Canada. During that Christmas season I was broken up by one song lyric that went;  “I’ll be home for Christmas, if only in my dreams.”  The year 2016 was my first Christmas without Joyce, but her first Christmas with Jesus. SHE HAD A BETTER CELEBRATION THAN I DID! I recall the days before Joyce went to be with the Lord. Joyce had just been placed on Hospice Care due to her dementia. She was in a hospital bed in our living room. I was not sure if she understood about her condition, but I spent hours beside her bed holdi
PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil's Devotional: “GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING!” Daniel 2:22 GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING! Daniel 2:22 – Devotional Daniel 2:22 “He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him.” There are so many things that I know little or nothing about. When I read about the study of micro-biology, I am stunned by the unseen world that comes alive under powerful electron microscopes. To be able to view the photos taken by giant telescopes of the deepest reaches of the heavens astounds me even more. Even the most brilliant scientists are continually surprised by the newest discoveries. The most enlightening thing is that God not only knows all of these things, He is the One who created everything! To my way of thinking, it is far better to know the God who created all things than to try to know something of the things that He made with the word of His mouth. Godless scientists have established a theory of how things were created. They
PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil's Devotional: “MY PROMISE TO PRAISE!” Psalm 146:2 MY PROMISE TO PRAISE! Psalm 146:2 – Devotional Psalm 146:2 “I will praise the Lord as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.” Have you ever heard a believer promise the Lord that they will praise His Name forever and ever, then start complaining about all the ills they are suffering? If you haven’t, unfortunately, I have! As God’s redeemed people we should be the happiest people in the world! Even when our health, wealth, and influence, dissipates, we should be the happiest and the first to lift our voices of praise to the Lord. I have heard far too many believers moan and complain about what they are going through, when compared to many others they have it pretty good. We need not go far from our front door to discover a world of suffering and pain. Sin is a terrible task-master and the wages of sin result in suffering. The suffering of this world is nothing compared to
PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil's Devotional: “PAY ATTENTION!” Revelation 3:2 PAY ATTENTION! Revelation 3:2 – Devotional Revelation 3:2 “Pay attention and strengthen the things that you still have, that are about to die, for I find your works imperfect in the sight of God.” Several years ago my wife Joyce and I were stopped at a traffic light when we saw our newspaper delivery man about to enter the intersection. He saw us and waved just as he was entering the intersection. Joyce and I both immediately shouted, “Watch Out!” Naturally he could not hear us. What we saw, and that he failed to see because he was waving to us, was a stopped vehicle just ahead of him. There was a crunch of metal as he collided with the other car. He was not traveling very a fast so there were no injuries. That particular mishap has always reminded me that it is vital to keep our attention on what is going on around us. In today’s Scripture we have the warning from the Lord to be watchful and to strengt

PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil's Devotional: SILENT NIGHT! – Luke 2:2-10 SILENT NIGHT! Luke 2:2-10 – Devotional Luke 2:2-10 “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.’” Several years ago our church had finished a wonderful Christmas Eve service. Earlier there had been candles placed inside white lunch bags that lined the driveway leading to the church. Joyce and I had volunteered to extinguish the candles after everyone had left. It had snowed a few days earlier and there were still a few inches on the ground. The temperature was below freezing when we crunched through the snow to the far end of the driveway. It was so quiet and beautiful that we were moved in our spirit with the beauty of God’s creation
