“JUST A CLOSER WALK WITH THEE!”
Psalm 23:4
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

It seems that each week I receive word that another friend or family member has slipped into eternity. Even though these loved ones are no longer close to us, they are now experiencing a closer walk with our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.

Death often casts a huge shadow, but it should hold no fear for the child of God. In 2 Corinthians 5:8 the Apostle Paul reminds us that “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” Death is our doorway into eternity. How fantastic!

As we consider the words of this song we should make it our prayer request. It should be our desire to walk closer to the Lord than ever before. It should not be just one time, but it should be our fervent desire to walk closer to Him with each passing day.

Just A Closer Walk With Thee

1. I am weak, but Thou art strong; Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long; As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Refrain: Just a closer walk with Thee, Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

2. Through this world of toil and snares, If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares? None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

Refrain: Just a closer walk with Thee, Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

3. When my feeble life is over, Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely over, To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

Refrain: Just a closer walk with Thee, Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

“PROFIT AND LOSS!”
Mark 8:35-36
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

Over the years many gold seekers have had their hopes crushed by discovering that what they had discovered was not gold, but only worthless “fool’s gold.” That is true of many things in this world. What glitters is not always gold!

All around us we observe people spending their energy and efforts to achieve that which will not even last over a few years. Much of the time the things that people pursue dissipate in a few hours or a few days --- at most.

When we invest our efforts to further the kingdom of God and His righteousness, we will make deposits in the bank of heaven that will last for eternity. This is not to our credit, but for the sake of Christ and His kingdom.

Take time to evaluate your life. Are you giving up the things that have fleeting value here in this world but little or no value in God’s kingdom that is eternal? What may seem a loss in the world’s system may have eternal value that goes far beyond what we experience now! Invest wisely! All that glitters is not gold ~ all gold does not glitter.

God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

“CARRIED BY ANGELS!”
Luke 16:22
So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.

God has messengers that are referred to as angels in scripture. It seems that one of their assignments is to lovingly carry the spiritual bodies of the saints into the Paradise of God. Here in the Gospel of Luke it is described as Abraham’s bosom.

For those who are not born-again believers, they receive no such escort. Their remains are simply carried out and buried. But that is not the end is it? They are still very much aware of their surroundings. In Luke 16 the righteous beggar was now in the most glorious surroundings and his suffering had eternally ended. He would be with his Lord forever and ever.

The rich man also was still conscious of his surroundings — a place of suffering where he not only experienced pain, but observed that the beggar he had treated with such contempt on earth was experiencing eternal bliss.

We need to be aware that there is a heaven to gain and a hell to shun. Those around us are destined to one or the other. Now is the time to make every effort to snatch the perishing from that place of eternal suffering. Do it now!

God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

 “GOD’S THOUGHTS!”
Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Do you know that God thinks about each of us? His thoughts are always good and full of hope. Our thoughts are sometimes disjointed and confusing, but His thoughts are always with a purpose.
We are told in 1 Corinthians 2:16 that we have the mind of Christ. That certainly does not imply that our mental faculties equate to being on a level with the Lord, but rather it does give us the assurance that we have spiritual discernment to better understand the ways of the Lord.
God never intends for His children to lack an understanding of His ways and His purposes. He has given us His precious directions for godliness in this old sin-sick world that we live in. Those directions are to be found in His precious Word.
We need to evaluate how faithful we are in seeking God’s thoughts that are so richly supplied in our Bibles. Make it a habit to begin and end each day by reading a meaningful portion from your Bible. Take notes and ask yourself three questions: What does it say? What does it mean? How do I apply it to my life?
Blessings dear hearts. Draw near to God today and be a blessing!

 “STEADFAST!”
Daniel 3:17
“- - our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.”

How do we respond when faced with the “fiery furnaces“ of life? Seldom do we find ourselves standing before a blast furnace being ordered to worship a false god or be burned to a human potato chip. We do, however, face our own kind of furnaces and must choose whether to bow to the demands of the godless or trust in the Lord.

I know very little about the process of generating steel, but I do know that raw ore must be heated beyond the melting point in order for it to be molded and hardened into a usable form. If the ore could speak it might beg to be left alone because the heat of the fire would cause pain and agony.

As we face the furnaces that appear before us, we also must make a choice of trusting in the Lord to be with us or yield to the peer pressure around us. I am here to tell you that yielding never produces strength. It only leads to further yielding and becoming a useless pile of dirt.

When we choose to become steadfast in our faith we will certainly face the heat like never before. The fact is that we will also encounter the strength and presence of the Lord beside us in the furnace. I choose to remain steadfast in the Lord!

Blessings dear hearts. Draw near to God today and be a blessing!
