 “JUST GRASS!”
Matthew 6:30
Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Sometimes we take things for granted. By that I mean that we fail to appreciate what blessings we possess. A trivial object may suddenly cease being trivial the moment we lose it. Far greater is the loss of our precious loved ones who slip into eternity.

I was born and raised in the verdant green of the Pacific Northwest, but I have  lived in areas of the country where there is more desert than green growth. I always recall arriving in Idaho and experiencing irrigation that transformed the desert landscape into lush green vistas.

We may often feel that we are insignificant in the broad scheme of things. If you feel that way right now I want to encourage you in the Lord. It is not what you consider yourself to be, but what God clothes you to become that matters.

You may simply be just grass in your own eyes, but remember that it is God who clothes the grass of the field. Allow the Lord to adorn you with His beauty and glorious presence - - FROM JUST GRASS TO JUST GLORY!

Blessings dear hearts. Draw near to God today and be a blessing!

“PRAISE THE LORD, THE ALMIGHTY!”
Jeremiah 29:11-13
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.  And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”

I would dare to say that almost all of us have experienced some sort of trial in our life. It could be the loss of health, a financial meltdown, death of a mate or child or any number of catastrophic events. It is not whether or not we will encounter these trials, but rather what we will do when they arise.

The phrase, Praise to the Lord occurs in at least 155 verses in the Bible. That indicates to me that we need to spend far more time praising the Lord than we do. It would be well to replace our complaints with words of praise to the Lord.

Over 300 years ago, Joachim Neander was a hymn writer for the German Reform church. He was going through a time of trial and testing in his life. He would take long walks and pour his heart out to the Lord. It was on one of these walks that he came to the realization that it was not his strength that would give him victory and peace, but rather the powerful God he served. It was in that state of mind that he composed this week’s featured hymn.

PRAISE TO THE LORD, THE ALMIGHTY

1. Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation!
All ye who hear, Now to His temple draw near;
Join me in glad adoration!

2. Praise to the Lord, who over all things so wondrously reigneth,
Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!
Hast thou not seen how thy desires ever have been
Granted in what He ordaineth?

3. Praise to the Lord, who with marvelous wisdom hath made thee!
Decked thee with health, and with loving hand guided and stayed Thee.
How oft in grief hath not He bought thee relief,
Spreading His wings for to shade thee!

4. Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him!
Let the Amen sound from His people again;
Gladly for aye we adore Him.

 “GOD’S GUIDANCE!”
Psalm 32:8
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.”

I think it must have been about twenty years ago when my wife Joyce and I had planned a day trip to the northern tip of the Washington peninsula. We were only a few miles along our way when I felt a heaviness in my spirit. I mentioned it to Joyce and she immediately said we should turn back. We did!
I do not know why I felt the heaviness in my spirit that day, but I felt so blessed to have a godly wife who encouraged me to listen to the leadership of the Lord instead of going ahead in my own strength. I do not know what might have happened if we had ignored the feeling and continued on our way. I do know that it was another confirmation that our two hearts were one with the Lord.
Each day I desire to make the Lord the guiding light of my life. I may grow weary or stumble, but I have a solid rock beside me that will never fail. I only need to lean on that Rock to keep me stable.
The next time you feel the need for divine guidance and support, turn to the Rock which is Christ Jesus. He will always be there to guide you through what lies in your path.
Blessings dear hearts. Draw near to God today and be a blessing!

 “FRESH WATER!”
Revelation 22:1
“And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.”

The Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth. The Dead Sea has no outlet but evaporates rapidly in the desert heat, leaving heavy, caustic, mineral-laden water behind. Fish that flow in with the fresh water, instantly perish.  People enjoy floating effortlessly on the surface, but must immediately and thoroughly rinse away the corrosives. Mounds of salt line the shores of the Dead Sea, and a nearby pillar is named for Lot’s wife.
In Ezekiel 47:12 we are promised river that shall bring healing and sustenance—which we may now receive by faith and later witness by sight when Jesus returns. “Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing."
He promised springs of living water to the woman at the well, and to the worshipers in the temple. Each of us is surrounded by Dead Sea people, and—if we are honest—we recognize that we ourselves are much more briny than the fresh flowing water that gives life. The Lord on His throne is ready to answer even one person’s humble, earnest, faith-filled prayer for revival.
Blessings dear hearts. Draw near to God today and be a blessing!
