PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil's Devotional: THE RIGHT CHOICE! Deuteronomy 11:26-28 THE RIGHT CHOICE! Deuteronomy 11:26-28 – Devotional Deuteronomy 11:26-28 “I am setting before you this day both a blessing and a curse. The blessing if you obey the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you today, the curse if you disobey the commands of the LORD your God and turn from the way I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known. “ Listen to today’s Message of the Week, “The Right Choice!” by clicking above on the play button. PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil's Devotional: JUST AS I AM! Ephesians 2:8-9 JUST AS I AM! Ephesians 2:8-9 – Devotional Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. “ . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I suppose many of us have heard humorous stories about someone approaching the gates of heaven and being required to prove that their actions on earth merited entry into God’s heavenly kingdom. Beep! Wrong answer! A person may do amazingly good works here on earth and still miss heaven. It is not what we do for God that determines where we will spend eternity—it is what He has done for us. When we repent of our sins and accept Him as Savior and Lord then—and only then—is our name written down in glory. The writer of this week’s hymn, Charlotte Elliot, was offended when someone asked her if she was a Christian. She told him to mind his own business. Later as she was contem

PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil's Devotional: “BY FAITH ALONE!” Galatians 3:2 BY FAITH ALONE! Galatians 3:2 – Devotional Galatians 3:2 “This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? “ I remember working with my dad building houses. Sometimes when we were fitting pieces of framing together, the ends might be a fraction of an inch off. I would hear my dad say, “Close enough.” I fear that many people are prone to apply that same attitude to their spiritual lives. Just what is  close enough  in the spiritual realm? The answer is perfection. The second question is;  whose  perfection? It is certainly not ours. I have known thousands of people in my life and not one of them  was  or  is  perfect. Do you think you can be good enough to make it to heaven? Most unsaved people will answer “Yes.” On the authority of God’s word we know that it is impossible to be good enough to assure an entrance into heaven! It is not our o

PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil's Devotional: “GOD’S PRECIOUS PROMISES!” Isaiah 41:10 GOD’S PRECIOUS PROMISES! Isaiah 41:10 – Devotional Isaiah 41:10 “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness. “ When you reach the age of 90, as I did a few weeks ago, it seems like memories become more and more precious. Rather than wish for the “good ole days!” I look forward to the days of eternity that are beyond description! As a boy one of the first verses I memorized was Isaiah 41:10. Since the day I first set it to memory, I have claimed it as my very own. In the darkest days of my life I have been comforted by these precious words. It is impossible for me to know what anyone else is going through at a particular moment, but God knows what each of us is going through. Not only that, He knows what we have already gone through and what lies ahead for us. I

PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil's Devotional: CHOICES! Deuteronomy 30:15-18 CHOICES! Deuteronomy 30:15-18 – Devotional Deuteronomy 30:15-18 “See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess. But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.” Aren’t you glad we do not live in the day when people worshipped idols? Back then they made idols of gold, wood, or stone to worship. These “gods” became so important to the people that their entire lives revolved around worshipping something they themselves had made. It

PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil's Devotional: “PREPARE TO GROW!” 1 Peter 2:2 PREPARE TO GROW! 1 Peter 2:2 – Devotional 1 Peter 2:2 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. “ In the northwest it is not an uncommon sight to see bare hillsides where timber has been cut. It is also fairly common to see trucks carrying huge loads of old growth logs. I always marvel at their size as I pass these log trucks. Many of the logs we see harvested in this part of the country come from third and fourth growth trees that have been planted after previous logs have been harvested. Owners of the land soon plant seedlings and in a short time they are young trees. Day by day we observe the passing of the saints of God. They have been our mentors and guides, but as the years slip by they pass the torch on to the next generation of believers. It is time for each believer to recognize that responsibility for growth in the Lord is a fact of life. We need to strive
