PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil Thompson's Devotional: “OUR TRUE HOME!” John 15:4 OUR TRUE HOME! John 15:4 – Devotional John 15:4 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “ The reality of homelessness has become a great issue in our modern world. In many cases people have been forced from the lives they once knew and been left to spend their time moving from shelter to shelter. Because of devastating catastrophes thousands of people are now or in the future experience homelessness. It may be temporary, but it is possible that some may never be able to return to their homes. For the true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we can visualize ourselves as being HOMELESS. That is certainly true when we pause to consider that our time in this world is temporary at best. How long we stay here is not as important as is the attitude we have toward our eternal home. The promise that Jesus o

PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil Thompson's Devotional: “GOD’S GIFT OF PEACE!” John 14:25 GOD’S GIFT OF PEACE! John 14:25 – Devotional John 14:25 “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. “ In 1938, prior to the outbreak of WWII, Lord Sir Neville Chamberlain returned from Germany with a peace compact that was signed by Adolph Hitler. He waved the document and proclaimed, “Peace in our time!” We now know how false that peace really was. Even today there is a peace that is anything but peaceful. I am told that in the midst of major battles a cease fire is ordered in which both sides stop hostilities for a certain period of time. It may be temporarily quiet, but it is not TRUE PEACE. Jesus promises His followers peace that is far different from anything the world can offer. It is peace in the midst of the storms of life. It is the peace that God gave to Stephen when he was being ston

PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil Thompson's Devotional: “FLASH BANG!” Matthew 24:27 FLASH BANG! Matthew 24:27 – Devotional Matthew 24:27 “For as the lighting comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. “ During the night we had a brief atmospheric disturbance. That is a fancy way of saying that there was a small thunder and lightning storm. Actually it is more correct to say we had a lightning and thunder storm. During my years serving in the United States Air Force I was posted to areas of the country that were prone to severe weather. As a family we decided that rather than being afraid of the storms, we would enjoy them! When lightning flashed and thunder rolled, the popcorn would pop and we would huddle together on the living room sofa and cheer for the spectacular fireworks that were on display. It was during these displays that it was evident that the flash of lighting meant that the roar of thunder would follow. In our sinful w
PASTOR CECIL · Pastor Cecil Thompson's Devotional: “TAKE HEED!” Mark 13:33 TAKE HEED! Mark 13:33 – Devotional Mark 13:33 “Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. “ Most true Bible scholars have concluded that there are no further prophecies that need to be fulfilled before the Lord appears to call His church to that wonderful home that has been prepared for us.  “Even so, come, Lord Jesus!”  (Revelation 22:20). With the return of Christ so near at hand there is much work for us to do. We live in the midst of a lost and dying world. The word of hope and salvation that the lost need to hear should be on our tongue. As people see Jesus in us, we need to be ready to share the gospel message with them and have their names written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Sadly, there are those who treat the prophecies of Christ’s return as only a joke, or they claim that we believers have been deceived. We have already observed enough fulfilled prophecies to know that
