“LISTEN AND OBEY!”
John 2:5
“His mother said to the servants, ‘Whatever He says to you, do it.’”

It seems strange to me that Jesus would say to His mother that His time had not yet come and then immediately proceed to do as she asked. I do not have a ready answer for the apparent indifferent attitude and then His immediate performing of the miracle of turning the water into wine at the wedding feast.

It is clear to me that His mother did not feel resentment at Jesus’ response, and also that she had supreme faith in what He would (and could) do. Remember, Jesus had not as yet performed any miracles that we are told of, so we assume her statement was not based upon what He had done before this time.

With those fragments of information floating through our mind, I would like us to apply Mary's words to our own situations. If we are to be obedient servants of the Lord who sincerely seek His will, there is only one way to be in the center of His will: “LISTEN AND OBEY!”
