“NEAR TO GOD!”
James 4:8
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify yourhearts, you double-minded.”

Most parents can recall times when they were traveling on the way to some distant destination when they would hear that oft-repeated question from one or more of their children: “Are we there yet?”

Sometimes our own family would be traveling through a barren desert with only sagebrush and tumble weeds as far as the eye could see when those four words would suddenly break the silence: “Are we there yet?”

As we travel through our spiritual pilgrimage, we may be like our own impatient children and cry out, “Are we there yet, God?” The answer is usually complete silence. God knows that there is still work to be done. We have no idea when we will pass through the desert areas of this life before entering the wonderful paradise of God.

God calls us to draw near to Him by cleansing our hands (the things we do); by purifying our hearts (the things we think); and by the integrity we display (the way we treat others). We simply need to allow Him to do the driving as we draw nearer to Him.
