“INSURANCE!”
Matthew 5:44-45
“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”

Many years ago when we were living in Nampa, Idaho, one of our close friends there worked as an insurance agent. He shared an incident that was humorous, if not unbelievable. The weather forecast was calling for a strong hailstorm in our area. A man who had purchased insurance through our friend called and reminded him that hail was expected and that he needed to come and put something over the man's aluminum patio cover. My friend thought it was a joke and laughed it off.

Sure enough, a significant hailstorm struck and caused many thousands of dollars of damage throughout the area. The man who had called the insurance agent experienced major damage to his aluminum cover. When he submitted his claim he was irate because John had not come to protect the cover as requested. Presumably the man's idea of insurance was that the agent was responsible for protecting property before damage occurred. (That would be a good type of insurance, wouldn’t it?)

We can be sure that we will encounter storms in our life. While an insurance agent might not be responsible to protect against storms, we have the Holy Spirit who is with us before, during, and after the storms. That is the best kind of insurance available!
