“PRE-OCCUPIED!”
I Kings 18:29
And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.
Several years ago my wife Joyce and I were traveling along a very busy street in our hometown. We were in the left turn lane waiting for oncoming traffic to clear so we could make our turn when we heard a car horn honk. We turned and saw our paper deliverer waving at us  -- and then smashing into a car at the intersection. He was pre-occupied with waving when he should have being attentive to his driving.

Our modern day culture is so pre-occupied with hand-held devices that it is an epidemic of pre-occupation with gadgets instead of personal interaction. How sad to see people with their eyes glued to a small screen while oblivious to the scene around them.

Spiritually we are just as easily detracted. We can find ourselves so pre-occupied with programs or projects that we fail to spend quality time with the Lord in prayer and reading the bible.

Now is the time to evaluate our behavior. What is demanding our time and treasure? If our love for God were to be measured by how much attention we paid to Him ... how would we stack up? Now is the time to pay attention!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
