“FES UP!”
1 John 1:8-9
“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to explain our sin as being something other than sin? We may say it is an error of judgment, an immature response to another person’s actions, or any number of other excuses.
The word “fes” is a colloquialism for the word confession. In certain parts of the country when someone is guilty of something they are sometimes urged to “fes up!”
In my previous experiences as a police officer and juvenile probation officer, I encountered countless situations when the offender was caught red-handed in committing an offense, but they still refused to FES UP!
We often hear Christians praying for the world to change, but in 2 Chronicles 7:14, we read; “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” FES UP!
May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
